i took this from the upper floor of my cabin at around 3:30 in the morning. my brothers and i had torn off the roof the day before to rebuild it, and we were worried it might rain in the night -- so i got up every hour or so to double check that our construction site wasn't getting wet. around 3:30am i stumbled mostly blind up the stairs (i'd lost my glasses) and saw that not only had the clouds cleared in the night, there was a shimmering band of mist rising from the creek. i grabbed my camera, took this, and slept like a baby till noon.
